This is an exceptionally rare formation of gold where the gold itself grows within small, thin sulphide veins that branch off the main host vein, usually quartz.
This gives the gold nugget a very thin flat structure, sometimes looking like a leaf.
What makes this nugget unique is where it was found. The prospector discovered the nugget in the Beechworth area, not known for chunky gold.
